Catch Up Day

It seems the Inky Fingers have unfinished projects (who knew?) so the third Sunday of the month is our catch up day.  Christine, Monique, Dawn and I had a nice day of crafting, appetizers and white Sangria.  Amazingly enough we did get things done.  Dawn and Monique did prep work for their Christmas cards and Christine and I made a couple of cards.  I had the man in the rain stamp with me and this is the card Christine made using the Magenta Honeycomb Paper.

Christine made this card from a sample in Angela's Close to My Heart blog.  It uses  8 1/2 x11 card stock cut in half across the 11"  then folder in 1/2 and the front folded in half again...you get the picture.

Inside the flower pattern flap opens, the popped circle keeps it secured when closed.

I have plenty of unfinished projects but chose to start a tag book for all the present and future t-ball and soccer pictures of my grandson Beckett.

This card is made with Stampin' Up paper and stamp set Fabulous Florets.

Close to my Heart stamp set Find Your Style and Graphic 45 decorative paper.

Basically the same card with different colors and papers.  I need to get back to embossing these would look so much richer if they were embossed.

RAINMAN

  After a beautiful sun filled day the clouds have moved in and I can hear the rumbling of thunder.  Stormy weather brought me to the craft room and my, until today, unused stamp of the man with an umbrella.  I tried different backgrounds before hitting on music, it gives the cards a nostalgic look.

  

STAR CARD

Well, another late night for me because I just had to make this card.  Happen to run into the Star Card while visiting craft blogs and from there the search was on to find a tutorial.  Found several tutorials and instructions on line but the measurements were in centimeters, ladies with British accents.  Finally ran into  a very sensible woman who figured it out without a lot of measurement...love her!  So here is the card and, while not a fancy tutorial, at least an idea on how I made it.  Play with it...

 Cut 12x12 card stock to measure 10 x11-1/2.  Find center, along the longest measurement and cut from center to each corner as shown above.

  

 You now have a triangle, fold tip of triangle to center bottom of paper, crease and open fold.

 Fold side corner as shown, crease and open fold, do the same with the left corner tip.

You now have a triangle in the center of the paper.

Measure 3/4 inch, as shown, on each triangle.  Score and fold into center triangle, creating the tip of the star.

This is what it will look like when finished.  To create the star, fold left side in, fold right side on top, fold top down and tuck left corner of top into the left corner of the left triangle...as I said play with it until it works out.   Hope the pictures help.  HAVE FUN!!!

CARD

Here is a card that Christine made and Barry showed her the technique.  I like how the layering creates a sun rays effect.

Paris

In anticipation of a trip to Paris and a future scrapbook, I got some special  Mother's Day surprises from Christine including this beautiful card she created.

 The fabulous stamp is from Impress Rubber Stamps, the adhesive Paper Tape and background card were all purchased at the Impress store.  As you can see from the card the Paper Tape has a transparent quality and it's the perfect embellishment.  I like the packaging too.  I am already picturing a scrapbook page or two.
